My Favorite Sets of the Week - #5

Pure amazingness, that's what these sets are all about. I would definitely wear all three outfits on them, specially that second one by Yumy there. Love the darkness of the first one, that purse is screaming my name, she needs me. The color palette of "Today is only the beginning..." is very springy/summery yet, I would wear that all the way into Fall. Gotta love that grey cardigan. This is pure inspiration for me. Another week and I'm still amazed at all the good sets out there.

Designer on my Thoughts

Balmain

With the wide, padded shoulders trend everywhere, is barely impossible not to be thinking about Balmain. The amazing label carries the name of its original designer, Pierre Balmain. Pierre founded his house in 1945 right after WWII. European royalty and Hollywood stars, like Katherine Hepburn admired his looks. Sadly, Balmain passed away in 1982, his assistant Erik Mortensen took over until 1993. This was when Oscar de la Renta came in the picture. After that, there were financial hardsips, more designers, financial help, etc. Today, its current designer is Chrsitophe Decarnin, who has been working there since Fall 2006.

Balmain's product line includes handbags, shoes, fragrance, and jeans. Kate Winslet, Kate Hudson and Gwyneth Paltrow are current clients. You can find more about Balmain here. Below are three pictures of his Fall 09-10 collection.

Aren't those pieces must-haves??! They're so wearable, like I could just put them on right now! I'm so in love with this brand. Here are some Polyvore sets from fashionistas who also love him.

LBD for Work?

The answer is YES! It doesn't matter if you work at an office, or at a store, with this cute little finds, you will be able to sport a little black dress for work.

Again, all the pics are from ASOS, but I just love them! Take a look and tell me, would you wear one of this dresses for work? I mean can you even wear dresses for work? I can basically wear whatever, as long as it looks classy and professional. Enjoy and you're welcome.

I know that last one there is more revealing, but I think is also very flattering, it depends on your work environment, I guess. Ugh! I love them all!

It's just an announcement, I'm not doing my giveaway, YET.

Model Spotlight - Gemma Ward

This week on my thoughts, Gemma Ward.

Gemma Ward

This Australian beauty was born on November, 1987. She's ben featured on the cover of Vogue magazine, just a few times over 20! Has worked in campaigns for Dolce & Gabbana, Christian Dior, Valentino, Prada, Yves Saint Laurent, and a few others. You might have also seen her walking down a few runways such as Givenchy, Balenciaga, Vera Wang, Michael Kors, and again many, many others. You can click here to find out more about her.

Like it says on many of her biographies online, she is very different. She doesn't look like anybody and nobody looks like her. I personally think that what makes her so different, is her eyes, but that's just IMO. I love, love, LOOOVEE that last picture of her with all the colors, and that hair, OMG!

And, here's the Polyvore set featuring Gemma Ward.

Looking Forward

"I'm looking forward to..." seems to be my phrase for this day. I was looking forward to a good rest. Got it. I'm looking forward to this weekend when Frag Man (my bf) gets back. I am looking forward to tomorrow and all the endeavors that await me. I am looking forward to sleeping. So, see you tomorrow. What are you looking forward to?

What am I wearing?

It has been reaaaally hard not to wear my wasitcoat every single day of my life, but I couldn't resist it any longer, so here I am again, wearing it for work [I need to start going to some other places, huh?].

I went with jeans again, [the same dark ones, from the last WAIW post]. I wore my favorite shirt, plaid, semi-long sleeves (from NY& Co.), patent leather flats (from ALDO) and my super-duper awesome new rosary I had my friend design for me [expect interview soon]. I felt so awesome, I think my customers also picked up on that, because I made great sales!

I also made a Polyvore set resembling my outfit for that day, here it is.

Think This: Denim

I bet the first thing you thought about was jeans. Well, even though we all need jeans, and of course we also love them, denim can be used in oh so many ways. Here are a few pics of denim clothing pieces that I found while browsing through ASOS. I absolutely adore this website, you should totally go check it out if you've never seen it.

Right now I feel like I need to actually by all this stuff, I mean, don't you? The dress and the jumpsuit are both extremely sexy and flattering. Harem pants are everywhere, so why not make your beloved denim harem? The denim shirt and the jacket will never go out of style, I mean is a shirt and denim, hello! So classic, yet modern.

Ok, I'm off to spending the rest of the afternoon looking at clothes I can't buy, wish me luck.

Thoughts

If this is my destiny, I refuse to accept it.

I once said or just basically told myself, that I was the only one that could change my life. Well, some changes came up, and is that time again when I have to start working for me, and I don't mean working as in a business owner, although that is never a bad idea. What I do mean is that I will not just sit there and let life just happen. I'm gonna make it happen!

What am I wearing?

Ok, so I bought a waistcoat, I couldn't contain myself! I do have to contain myself from wearing it everyday, so hard!! Here's my outfit for work, I just went with very neutral colors, cream and black, with my dark skinny jeans and my ah-ma-ZING new shoes!

My Favorite Sets of the Week - #4

Ok, I can't take it anymore! I cannot just choose one, so that's why this is now called My Favorite sets of the Week, instead of just set. No more talking, here they are.

Green Day

I know that the first two have the same color palette more or less, also that they're both from the same person but I really liked them both, I think that what yelly did on the second set [from the top] with the skirt and the blazer was amazing.

"Green Day" is completely captivating, all the different shades of green, even though they're all dark, hunter green makes the set fabulous, or is it because green is one of my favorite colors, hmm. As for the last one, what can I say, I would just wear that right now! The shoes are to die for, and just the mixture of gray and brown is something I cannot resist.

Good job ladies!

30's Inspired Style

I just saw this pictures and had to share! Vanity Fair magazine teamed up with hottie Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia!) among other rising stars for a recreation of "My Man Godfrey". Here are just two of the pictures but I cannot wait to see the rest of them. The issue comes out in August.

Fotographers: Michael Roberts, Norman Jean Roy, Mark Seliger, and Art Streiber

Designer on my Thoughts

Yves Saint Laurent

This designer has been popping here and there all week long, so it was essential that I write this post about Yves Saint Laurent. The Milanese designer, Stefano Pilati, is the brains behind all these amazing objects.

Stefano Pilati

The label has product lines such as beauty, fragrances, eye wear, handbags, accessories, clothing and of course shoes! Some of his clients include Dita Von Teese and Renee Zellweger. You can click here to find out more about Yves Saint Laurent.
Here are some pictures of the items that have been really popular lately.

Cage Boot

Those cage booties are everywhere!!! It's so cute that I found the matching belt, or should I say, Cage Belt? Here are some Polyvore sets also, that feature the boots, so you can get an idea of how to wear them, or not!

What's on my purse?

I have seen many posts like this one, and just got inspired to do my own. I always find it so interesting to know what other women carry around in their purses, especially if they're big like mine. So here it is, all the stuff I always carry around in my big black Nine West purse.

There you have it:
  • Ralph Lauren sunglasses
  • Estee Lauder makeup bag [picture below]
  • Guess? wallet
  • Blackberry
  • Sony Cybershot
  • Valentino glasses
  • Keys
  • USB
  • My cute little purse hanger thingy [if this has a name, please let me know]
  • Business card holder [they match, I know! so cute]
  • My Paul Mitchell brush, which I am not proud of at the moment, but I just can't live without it
  • Tea tree oil facial blotting tissues
  • Heart shaped coin holder
  • Pink bag full of necessary stuff [you will also see details below]
Makeup bag

A shout out to my mother in law who gave me this super cute makeup bag last time we visited. I love it! Ok, in here you will always find my Estee Lauder Double-Wear compact, which is also really good. My Cover Girl fantastic bronzer, the brush I use to apply it is also Estee Lauder. My Almay concealer, I used to use Cover Girl forever, I gave Almay a try, and is also really good. My little MAC studio finish concealer, which I only use when I have breakouts, it works wonders! it covers spots completely, I use the black brush to apply it. Also, two of my eyeliners [from all three of them]. Here I have Prestige in black/brown and Jordana in cool aqua, they look great when you wear them together. Tip: apply the blue one first, and the darker one on top. Chap-aid lip balm is a must, although my new amazing lipstick [expect review soon] works just as one, plus it gives you color. It's Revlon Beyond Natural in Nude. And last but definitely not least, my mascara, drum roll please, Maybelline's Colossal Volum Express...ah-ma-ZING!!!! I do have to apply a few coats to get the desired look, but who cares right?

Pink bag

In here, I carry all that necessary stuuf, that isn't always necessary, but you just never know. I have cotton swabs for eyeliner/mascara emergencies. Tictacs, well you know for what. Travel size baby lotion, and travel size Secret deodorant. Oral B dental floss, hand sanitizer, a nail clipper, antibiotic ointment, hydrocortisone [because my skin is so sensitive everything gives me a rash you see. Also, mini sun lotion, Cetaphil SPF 50, again for those kinds of emergencies, black eyeliner, just in case and that tiny round thing carries pills, such as Aleve, Peptos & Excedrin for those chronic migraines I'm always randomly getting.
Finally, my purse, the one that goes with my almost everywhere, almost everyday.
