Or nails in style, however you want to call them, but these babies got me a LOT of compliments, plus they look soooo coool! And of course I didn't spend a dime [but I do own a lot of nail polish] and it only takes about 3 minutes longer than it would normally do.
I got the idea from InStyle Magazine, September issue, which also happens to be their 15th anniversary issue, and it features Jennifer Lopez on the cover. Go Puerto Rico! It was on their Beauty Trends section and the article is called Power Points. Now, how cool is that?!
That was the page, and the instructions of the magazine say: Step 1: Gather your materials: a deep purple polish, a creamy white polish, five clean pots (or disposable plates), and toothpicks to mix (InSTyle Mag). Now, to this I added an extra nail polish applier brush thingy [do they have a name?]. Because I didn't want to ruin either my purple or white's brushes with the mixture. Also, DO NOT use foam plates, use paper ones. The chemicals of the nail polish on the foam ones causes erosion and it's not pretty. Step 2: Pour out four dime sized blobs of the dark purple, and add small increments of white to each one, creating a gradation of hues. Step 3: Beginning with the original shade on your pinkie, paint each nail a different color (InSTyle Mag).
Remeber my extra brush, I got it from an old nail polish I had lingering around [come on, we all have one...or two] and what I did was, after I mixed them all with toothpicks and watched the erosion of course, I started on my thumb (with the lightest shade), instead of my pinkie, because it really didn't make any sense to start with the darkest color and then with the same exact brush trying to paint with a lighter one.
I used: Sally Hansen - Lacquer Shine in Flair and Sinful Colors Snow Me White.

Malibu Beach
So for the finale of my purrrfect weekend, the honey and I [ok, actually it was his idea] decided to go to Malibu Beach. After a delicious breakfast [thanks honey!] and some preparing, hello I had to buy a mag for the beach we were on our way. We actally went to Zuma Beach, because I read it was better tee-hee. I haven't been to the actual Malibu Beach [Zuma beach is also located on Malibu] but I just know it's better, it felt better. Parking was a...hmmm.. let's just say it was an experience. Finding a spot was also interesting, it was FULL, PACKED, FILLED, JAMMED, SATURATED, REPLETE, ok I believe that by now you get my point. We were uber prepared with some chairs that serve as backpack and totebag as the same time. I will explain with a pic later. I just had on a white tank, denim shorts [ripped] , Gisele Bundchen Ipanema flip flops, my cowboy hat, and one of my favorite bathing suits, but it's just a shame that there isn't one single picture where you could truly appreciate it. Oh well... next time.
This is what I mean by prepared, we both looked like this. It was very much fun and beyond practical. These next pics I don't loooooove, but it's what I've got.
Extremely concentrated on my Elle mag.
You can see my freckles here.

21 Things I'm loving in Glamour
Well, as I mentioned here, my favorite magazine is Glamour, and according to my readers, at least the ones who participated on the poll, they agreed; 70% of voters preferred Glamour. The other votes were equally divided in 10% for Cosmopolitan, Lucky, Allure, and Self. So to show my devotion [and also my lack of something to do around here] and to give my readers a sneak peek, if they haven't bought it or received it yet. Here are my favorite things for September's issue.
- Tiffany and Co.'s ad. It isn't new but I love those damn little keys!
- Calvin Klein jeans's ad. It has Eva Mendes on it, what's not to love?
- Coco Chanel's ad for Coco Mademoiselle. Keira Knightley looks ah-ma-ZING! Just completely flawless.
- Givenchy's new fragance ad. I think the name of it is Play. However, this is a must have for any men in your life, OK, maybe not your dad or your brother. It smells like sex waiting to happen. Buy it.
- "206 Ways to Dress Chic Now". Just looking at the pages was fascinating.
- "The Real Way to Romance a Guy". I actually rethought a couple of things.
- "Think You've Had a Bad Date?" I was literally laughing out loud!
- "Crazy but Genius Ways to Get a Job Now". This one's a must read.
- "Seven Right-Now Rules for Being Happier at Work". Goes hand-in-hand with #8.
- This month "Hey, it's ok!" Have I mentioned this is my favorite section? It is, I love it.
- "Life Do's and Don'ts From the Youngest Female Senator". WOW! She suddenly became my hero.
- "Life, Death and What You Owe a Friend:". This story had me crying for a while, and it makes me sad just to think of it.
- I'm not a huugee fan of Jessica Simpson, but her interview is worth reading. Oh, btw I love her shoes!
- "You Can Afford It!" This makes me want to get my shop on. No worries, I know I can't...for now.
- "Twilight Beauty". Forget Team Edward, or Team Jacob or whatevs. This ladies are the ones we should be teaming up with. I was joking about forgetting about Team Edward and Jacob. Jijiji.
- "Secret's of Happy Couples". Awwww. Note to self: memorize all of this.
- "How to Dress Like a Woman in Charge". Ok, the only thing I need to say is that Diane Kruger is the model for this. I love her, and she is fab on this.
- "Your Money!" [An Exclusive Glamour Guide]. Read this, learn it, and do it.
- The article "Sex With a Stranger", is both fascinating and scary at the same time.
- "How to do Anything Better Guide". This recipes OMG, they made me soooo hungry!
- "10 Little Things to Add to Your Life List". I love these little things.

Which magazine do you prefer?
We all love magazines and buying them or getting a subscription, reading them, finding out new trends, or learning new things from them. But which ones do we really prefer? If you could only subscribe to one, which one would it be?
I have always been subscribed to Glamour. For some reason, I have never liked Cosmopolitan. I do own a couple of issues, but I would never, EVER subscribe to them [I'm sorry cosmo people, it's nothing personal]. I just feel that they only talk about sex, or at least that it is the main subject. I like my magazines to talk a little bit about everything.
I do love purchasing mags whenever I can, although they're soooo expensive. I also try to save my money. What do you think? I want to know what are you looking for in a magazine? Do you expect something out of them? Do you buy tabloid magazines (eww!) Do you like fashion magazines at all? Or do you buy fitness magazines, crafts, cooking, decorating? Please let me know...
PS: I drool for decorating magazines.
